Lip-Bu Tan is the Founding Managing Partner of Walden Catalyst Ventures and one of the most influential leaders in the global semiconductor and deep-tech ecosystem. A pioneering investor, entrepreneur, and executive, he founded Walden International in 1987 and has spent more than three decades backing breakthrough companies across semiconductors, AI, and advanced computing.

Lip-Bu currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Intel Corporation, where he is driving a renewed era of innovation, manufacturing leadership, and global competitiveness for one of the world’s most iconic technology companies.

Before joining Intel, Lip-Bu was the longtime President and CEO of Cadence Design Systems (2009–2021) and later served as Executive Chairman until 2023, helping shape Cadence into a global leader in electronic design automation.

Over his career, Lip-Bu has been a key architect of the deep-tech landscape, serving on numerous boards and advising global leaders across the semiconductor supply chain. He holds a B.S. in Physics from Nanyang University, an M.S. in Nuclear Engineering from MIT, and an MBA from the University of San Francisco.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I enjoy swimming, snow skiing, fly fishing, hiking, and spending time with my family and church.
